Indexes of Chinese Exclusion Act Case Files at NARA Seattle 🗃️
In collaboration with Trish Nicola Hackett of the Chinese Exclusion Act Case Files blog (CEACF), you can now browse highly in-depth indexes of nearly 16,000 Chinese Exclusion Act case files at the National Archives (NARA) in Seattle, Washington.
Organized by port of arrival, these indexes are ⭐️ FREE ⭐️ to publicly browse on My China Roots, no subscription required!
Thanks to the extraordinary efforts of volunteer indexers, the CEACF indexes significantly expand NARA’s indexes to include:
- Alternative names or aliases
- Certificate of residence or identity number
- Beginning and ending dates of the file
- Date, port, and vessel for last entry
- Residence
- Occupation
- Citizenship category
- Gender
- Photograph in file
- Interrogation and disposition
- Comments on extra documents (maps, family group photos, passports, etc.)
